Former is doing the work here. Four of the five men caught inside the DNC office had past CIA ties, mostly through anti-Castro operations, and James McCord and E. Howard Hunt were both ex-agency. But none of them were CIA employees on the night. They were working for the Committee to Re-elect the President, and the agency's involvement was investigated and not established.

The abuse is documented, the scale is not. Reporting in 2026 found officers in at least a dozen states misusing Flock's plate reader network, with more than 50 documented instances including officers tracking former partners. That is a real and growing problem, but hundreds of officers caught specifically stalking people is well beyond what has been established.

Victoria's Secret share price increased 300% year-on-year due to the influence of Ozempic sales.

The move is real and the GLP-1 link is not made up, but the number is loose. Victoria's Secret roughly tripled over the past year and hit an all time high of $102.46 in August 2026, and Wells Fargo upgraded the stock partly on GLP-1 users dropping sizes and replacing their wardrobes. A tripling is a 200% rise, not 300%, and analysts treat weight loss drugs as one driver among several rather than the cause.

About 90% of people who use GLP-1 drugs for weight loss gain the weight back after discontinuing their use.

The direction is right, the number is not. In the STEP 1 trial extension, people who stopped semaglutide regained about two thirds of the weight they had lost within a year, and were still down about 5.6% from where they started. That is a lot of regain, but it is not 90% of people getting all of it back.

Walking through business class when boarding an airplane leads to an eight-fold increase in passenger rage incidents.

There is a real study and a real number, just not that one. DeCelles and Norton found in PNAS that simply having a first class cabin made an air rage incident about four times more likely in economy, with boarding through the front raising the odds further. Other researchers published a rebuttal in the same journal arguing the analysis does not hold up, so even the four-fold figure is contested.

The format is right, the distance is rounded down. A backyard ultra loop is 4.167 miles, or 6.706 kilometres, which is 100 miles divided by 24 so a runner covers exactly 100 miles in a full day. Everything else holds: one loop on the hour, every hour, until one person is left.

Women in South Korea are considered among the most left-leaning in the world.

The gap is real and striking. Among South Koreans in their twenties, about 58% of women backed the progressive candidate while over 71% of men went conservative, the widest split of any age group. But most left-leaning in the world is not something anyone measures, and the same divide is opening up among Gen Z voters in the US, Germany and the UK.

The National School Boards Association previously sent a letter to the Biden administration suggesting that protests at school board meetings could be considered domestic terrorism.

The letter is real and it did reach for that language. On 29 September 2021 the NSBA asked the White House to look at threats and violence against school board members under statutes including the PATRIOT Act, calling them the equivalent of domestic terrorism. What it pointed at was threats and violence, not protest itself, and the association apologised for the letter three weeks later after its own state chapters objected.

Richard Nixon won the 1972 presidential election by the largest margin in U.S. history.

Nixon did win in a landslide. He took 49 states and beat George McGovern by about 18 million votes, which is still the largest raw vote margin any presidential candidate has ever run up. But "largest margin in U.S. history" does not hold on the measures people usually mean. His 23.2 point win trails Warren Harding's 26.2 point win in 1920, and his 520 electoral votes trail Franklin Roosevelt's 523 in 1936.

Large AI research laboratories signed a 'frontier paper' agreement to slow down the speed of AI research.

The agreement exists and it is not about slowing down. Sixteen companies including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft and Amazon signed the Frontier AI Safety Commitments at the Seoul summit in May 2024. What they committed to was publishing safety frameworks, naming the risks they consider intolerable, and not shipping a model where those risks cannot be mitigated. Nobody agreed to move slower overall.

The Los Angeles County attorney's office reviewed county records and concluded that fraud claims regarding the election were false.

There's a real review behind this, but the office is wrong. It was Bill Essayli, the federal U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, not an LA County attorney's office, who checked county election records and found a specific viral claim (that a candidate got zero votes in one ballot update) to be false. There's no county level office called an LA County attorney that did this.
