Joe Rogan Experience #2555 - Ron White · Aired Sep 16, 2026
Claim summary · not a verbatim quotation
Hormone blockers used for children are in the same category of drugs used to chemically castrate sex offenders.
The finding
What the evidence shows
The drug class overlap is real. Puberty blockers given to adolescents are GnRH agonists such as leuprolide, triptorelin and histrelin, and leuprolide is the same drug that produces the deep hormone shutdown doctors call chemical castration, which is why GnRH agonists are also used in treating sex offenders and paraphilias. What the framing leaves out is that the dose, the duration and the purpose are different, that the same drug has been FDA approved since the early 1990s for children with precocious puberty, and that offender protocols often add antiandrogens like cyproterone or medroxyprogesterone. Calling the two the same drug category is defensible, treating them as the same treatment is not.
