Joe Rogan Experience #2546 - Michael Button · Aired Aug 26, 2026
Claim summary · not a verbatim quotation
Humans like us could have inhabited the planet for a million years.
The finding
What the evidence shows
The oldest confirmed Homo sapiens fossils are only about 300,000 years old, not a million. There's real scientific debate about when modern human behavior emerged, but no mainstream evidence puts anatomically modern humans on the planet for a million years.
