Joe Rogan Experience #2558 - Tyler Engle · Aired Sep 24, 2026
Claim summary · not a verbatim quotation
Drumm says analysis of the staining on the Red Pyramid's walls found metal oxides including thorium, and nothing a bat colony leaves behind.
The finding
What the evidence shows
A real but unpublished analysis does seem to exist. The ISIDA Project, an independent amateur group, took stain samples from the Red Pyramid around 2010, and researcher Geoffrey Drumm says thorium showed up in them. I could not open the underlying data, and it is not peer reviewed. No one is shown comparing the stains with bat droppings, so "nothing a bat colony leaves behind" is an inference, not a tested result. The pyramid's local name is the "Bat Pyramid", and Wikipedia notes the chamber walls are blackened with soot from torches and tomb-robber damage, which are other explanations for the staining. The framing makes a one-sided claim sound settled.
